|
|
My new iMac is due to be deliver in the next few days. Will I be able to restore my Mac Mini Time Capsule backup onto the new iMac, or is it not that simple?
Ideally, I don't want to have to re-installed and re-configure everything.

I believe its possible. When you first turn on
the new Mac to set it up you should be able
to choose "Restore from Backup" then point
it toward your TimeCapsule backup.
Google around to find out the exact "How To".
Then please, inform us how it went. _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with

Thanks! I've found a few guides, and it looks pretty straight forward. I'll let you know how it goes.
Incidentally, would I be better off having a clean install of OSX?
With Windows, I tend to re-install everything every twelve months, as it tends to get a bit messy. Is the same true of OSX? _________________ Mac Mini 2.26GHz (late 2009), 4GB Ram

Because of that I didn't do a clean install with SL but migrated from a clone and everything is running so good I'll probably migrate again with Lion.
(edit: I apologize for not being clear, I used the default SL Install configuration which is an "UPGRADE") | MJ wrote: | | With Windows, I tend to re-install everything every twelve months, as it tends to get a bit messy. I would recommend you "Repair Permissions" on a regular basis. I do almost every morning then make a fresh clone. HERE's way to much info.
If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask. We are here for ya. _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with
