I use Mail for my eMail.
How do I (can I) change the description
of the "Subject Line" of eMail I receive.

I right click on the "Subject Lines" description
and an option to change or modify that
description isn't available.

If I could make the description more to my
liking, it would be helpful when I'm looking
for something. The descriptions of my received
eMails aren't usually very descriptive, if you
know what I mean.

If you've successfully done this
I would appreciate your help!

Thanks!!!

I must admit - although I've never actually looked for this feature - I don't think ANY email client will let you change the Subject Line (or the content, for that matter) of any email you've received.

(Not unless you try and forward or reply to it, anyway.)

I guess it's deliberate "policy": that's how it was sent by the sender, and you shouldn't change it. Imagine the legal implications... Good job emails don't stand up in court.

I use an app called Mail Tags which installs as a plugin for apple mail. It allows you to do it. Cool

Its not a free app though

Mailtags does a lot more allowing you to assign tags (keywords, projects) to your mail, coloured labels, priorities, tickle dates etc
You can add notes to an email and also have the notes show up as your custom subject line. When you do this the subject line shows in italics, so it's obvious you have changed it.
