Hi,

I use Firefox with downloadhelper to browse internet. It's easy to download video from YouTube site, but find no way to simply download video from such website: http://video.about.com/exercise/LOWER-BODY-STRETCHES-mov.htm

Anyone has a hint of how?

I checked with my Firefox set up and whatever plugin I have, and it doesn't have a download option. I also checked with keepvid.com and it didn't see any video content.

So, I think they may have set it up to be not downloadable. I even trolled through the source code for the page and I'm not even sure I found the calls for the video...

Sorry! Maybe someone else knows a trick.

It's easy to do in Safari (not Firefox).

Browse to that page in Safari;
- once video is playing, goto Safari's Window menu and open Activity window;
- check list - look for big file downloading (that will be several MB)
- option+double click on title, and the file will download (in this case file "4013_180463243001_create-790-2-0.mp4")

BTW: zisel (definitely) and lucy66 (probably) are spammers - reported.

mooblie,

Thanks so much. It works just as you described and just as I wanted (except using Safari though).

You're welcome. I thought embedding my own website videos in a Flash Player made them slightly more secure from the pirates and copyists. But no. Safari makes it that easy! Smile

Hi Everyone,

It's my shame having to post my re-discovered solution (I found it long while ago as an answer to SmithCraft's request; then I forgot it) for this downloading video problem: go to the video site, open the video, look for a tri-color spinning ball icon at TOP of FF browser, click on the "tiny" triangle on right of the spinning ball --> it will show the video file name; select the file and it will give options including "download" you want to click it. I think this is much easier and simpler than to do in Safari (sorry, Mooblie).

Hi fiat

Always keen to find a new solution, especially if it's better than "mine"! (And especially as I use FireFox more than Safari anyway.)

However, I can't find the "tri-color spinning ball icon at TOP of FF browser" or the "tiny triangle on right of the spinning ball". Can you provide more directions, or a screen shot please??

It's a plugin. It's not in the standard FF install.

Hi Mooblie, It's been a long while since we discussed this video downloading issue! Yet, now everything has changed a lot or bit and I found there becomes more and more difficult to download youtube video by FF plug-in due to more limitation. So I tried to bring back the way you use with Safari, but now the web, FF, and Safari all get so advanced that I can not even find the "Activity" window in the "Window" menu of Safari. How do you or anybody go with downloading youtube video now? Please share. Thanks
