|
|
We recently switched to Mac, and now have a brand new Mac Mini and also picked up a second-hand older Mac Mini (about 4 years old) that I understand has a G4 processor. We got the latest version of Parallels software when we bought the new Mac, but since I do a fair bit of film and audio editing (we're musicians), our friends cautioned us against running Parallels on the new machine, and if I must run my old Windows editing software on the new Mac, partition the HD w/Bootcamp instead and save myself a lot of grief.
Nevertheless, since the new Mac will be the "main" workstation, I wonder if we could put Parallels on the old Mac Mini with the G4. Does the older processor support Parallels, especially the newest version? We just bought a couple months ago.
Thanks very much!

You need an Intel processor to run windows virtualisation so unfortunately installing Parallels on the G4 mini isn't going to be an option. _________________ Phil

Thank you!
I had a feeling it wasn't going to work... _________________ Brenda K

About the only way to do it would be with VirtualPC, however, it is slower than you can imagine to run Windows. DOS it can handle in a decent manner, but Windows is almost unusable.

Thanks SC! I guess we'll just use it as is.
