Digital audio in games

I have a macmini pluged into my philips tv and use the digital audio out

The tv only works on 32000Hz and every time i run a game it changes the settings to 48000Hz and i get no sound

if i go back to the desktop and manually change the sound back to 32000Hz the the sound is ok in the game for that session but if i quit and run the game again then the sound is put back to 48000Hz

This is the case for all games.
