$2299 plus 25 to ship is 2314, but I get 10 dollars and 5% off and 0 tax. So it is about $2200 new sealed from a real dealer. (jr.com) not a refurb. it can get apple care .
now the upgrade comes out next week. I don't need faster then a 2.66 quad with real 3gb sata slots. Lots of sata slots 4 of them at no cost. 5 with a low cost part
from owc. http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/MPQXES2/
I have mucho drives. later i can add a controller card
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Highpoint%20Technologies/RRAIDMAC/ then attach my two elite-al pro qx2.
I am tempted to grab it as the warranty will be fully legit.
I wonder if they would drop the price after the 6 core comes out along with the 12 core.
If I buy from the apple gov store (I am allowed to do so)
the same machine is 2299 plus tax I am at 2459. So buying today from JR.com I get one at 2200. new sealed any opinions?
I wonder what the six core pricing will be? I figure this cpu is beyond what I need for at least two years. The connectivity works for all my hdd managment. Right now no mini is fast enough even though i can make them have really good connectivity with esata hacks. the cpu's are too slow. the new imac is fast enough but has crappy connectivity .
decisions . once I decide I won't need to speed chase i will get more into networking the machines, movies and music. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

Philip, if you get a Mac Pro, you'll be set up for quite a few years...
And I'll be jealous. _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

to be honest I just keep realizing some of the cpu work I do the mini is too slow or the imac does not offload it fast enough. buying the mac pro is going to happen sooner or later. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

well i waited til today the new quad is a 2.8 with 1333 ram with government discount it is 2299. add tax of 7 percent it is 2453. I have some other discounts maybe 150 or so. so i can get the base model at 2300.
I really would like to get it under 2k but that is not happening. A 2.8ghz quad cpu with 1333mhz ram is lightyears ahead of my iMac's 3.06GHz which is faster then any mac mini. So for speed i should be 3 years or so ago of what I need. It looks like the cpu can get an aftermarket upgrade to a 3.2 quad and the gpu can get an after market upgrade to the ati 5870 graphics card. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram
