Hi,

Thinking of using a mini for a kiosk application, using an ELO 19" Panel Mount touchscreen and Flash for the interface.

I've been using PC's in the past, but require something smaller that uses less power and generates less heat, but that is easily obtainable (off the shelf hardware) - the Mac Mini!

There are a couple of things I need the mini/OS X to be able to do:

Run an application on startup - ie: a Flash Projector file

Shutdown at a predetermined time each day (I have been using windows task schedular in the past)

Be able to assign seperate audio outputs to different applications, ie: the Flash audio output, plus something like i-Tunes, playing a seperate audio streams output to different speakers (maybe using some kind of usb sound device).

Can the mini be configured in any way to start up at a specific time every day?

I have never used OS X before, so I'm not quite sure what I would be getting in to.

Thanks

Ryan.

You can set the Mac mini to turn on and off,
I have mine switching on everyday at 6am and off for about 10pm.

I'm not in frotn of my mac a the moment but I think you can pretty much set days, hours and minutes.

Mr.187 is correct. You just need to go into System Preferences > Energy Saver

Then to Options.

Then to Schedule.

Awesome.

I'm very excited about finally getting my hands on a Mac.

Just hoping I don't fall in love with it too much, cos I can't afford one for myself yet Sad

Thanks

You will. I've only had mine for a day or two and it's awesome

Damn!

Okay, well I have already cleared the first hurdle to getting one for home, I have convinced my wife, now I just have to find the money.

Maybe I'll just have to hijack the one I'm buying for the kiosk for a while, its so small I'm sure no one will miss it.
