|
|
| Hello, I was hoping to receive some information. I just bought a used Apple Mac mini MB138LLA (1.83 GHz, 2 GB, 80 GB). Can anyone advise me. ......I don't know much about them. I was hoping to use my existing Monitor Hewlett Packard W 2007. Unsure of hook ups. Is this a decent mini mac? |

depends on the price you paid and what you want to do with it. under 300 it is a very good deal. you can put in a better hdd and get more speed. you can add ram and you can put a better cpu in it.
stock as is, not quite good enough for hdtv using an eyetv device. should be good for the net and should be able to stream netflix. I will look your lcd up _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

Christy, Welcome to the forum!!
In response to your questions the mini that you have I believe is one of the first core 2 duos it will take 4 on the ram but only use about 3.3. The 80 Gig will get you by for awhile with everyday use.
If you click click on the apple on the top left corner it will give info about your Mac. If you then click on "more info" it will give you a model # and other info.
You may need and adapter for the monitor, I believe it is a vga connection, I don't remember if it came with that adapter, if not the can be gotten many places, Radio Shack Walmart or on the internet.
If you look on the forum you will see at the end of some posts what they are using there are many in use.
I just sold one of these on Ebay, it killed me it was my first.
At second thought the monitor it self may have come with that wire and if you received the adapters with the mini you should be good to go.

Phil, The answer that I gave was based on a CNET review . It said it was vga, however we both know that most monitors come with more than 1 hook up.
I am using a 21.5 hp and it has 3 hook ups including hdmi which is what I am using.
You gave the person good info as always.

Hi Christy. As the other guys have said, it's a fine machine -- do you know what you intend to use it for? Also, did the seller provide you with the DVDs that the machine was originally shipped with? _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b
