Mac mini imitator to use Intel Yonah chip
"Taiwanese electronics maker AOpen - which sells a small desktop PC that closely resembles the Mac mini - will put Intel chips in the updated version of its device.
The AOpen 'Mac mini-alike' runs Windows, and will use Intel's latest dual-core microprocessor.
The Intel processors is code-named "Yonah". They are scheduled to launch in the first quarter, but samples of the chips are already in the hands of PC developers in Taiwan, said Tony Yang, director of integration brand marketing at AOpen."

I hope Apple follows suit with the first Intel mini. A dual-core mini going to be sweet as hell! |

Wow, this is contrary to the demo they shipped for this review:

I wonder what the price will be for the dual-core Yonah? I am guessing over $1000 since the price listed for the high-end model with a 1.7 Pentium M proc was $899....
Also, I really hope that Apple does not go with the integrated Intel graphics chipset like Aopen did on the mini PC (most likely to keep cost down). This would be a huge dissapointment. If Apple does do this (go with the integrated Intel graphics chip), I will be so happy that I have a 1.5GHZ PPC with a 64mb Radeon 9200.... _________________ Vote for me, and your wildest dreams will come true.. - Pedro Sanchez, "Napoleon Dynamite" |
