|
|
For the past 2 weeks, I have tried & successfully installed Windows 7, only to have numerous Freezes at Startup & while using & running Windows 7. At first the audio would just skip while listening to WMP or iTunes. I tried a fresh install using Bootcamp like 6 separate times. Loaded Bootcamp Drivers off SL DVD & then tried to update to Bootcamp 3.1 & got Blue Screen Frozen when installing Bootcamp 3.1. I then tried Loading Vista instead & the same exact issues occured. I found out I could make the audio stop skipping by uninstalling Realtek Audio Drivers in Add/Remove Programs. But with each Reboot, it would get harder to boot back into Windows without Freezing Up. Sometimes Safe Mode would not even Load. I'm Running the iMac with SL it has no issues. Repaired Permissions, Verified Disc All good. As I was starting to suspect my Hard Drive. Thinking thats why it would get stuck at Startup. But Snow Leopard on my iMac runs flawlessly. I have used Bootcamp on my Mac Mini running Windows XP & it had worked perfectly. I should have posted this a week ago, as I am SO frustrated, that I'm not at this point in time going to try again. I cannot understand for the life of me why it won't work. It seemed when I first loaded it, it would work OK & then with more Windows Updates, it would get drastically worse. I don't know if that's just a coincidence or not. I really don't know what to think. I even tried disabling the Airport Card, since I'm plugged to internet using Ethernet. _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

Well a 100GB is plenty big enough, and I'm assuming you are running 32bit versions. I have had two bootcamp installs go belly up for no reason. Currently I'm using VM Fusion for my PC needs. Not a free option like bootcamp, and you take a performance hit, but it works well enough for my needs.
Damn if it ain't one thing or another Dino. I think Apple is secretly using you as a test subject. _________________ MacMini 2.0GHz C2D (2009)

I think your right Tony. I should be on Salary.
I suspect it's Bluetooth or/and the Airport Card. Just my gut instinct. The Realtek Audio was messing up my listening to Music. Kept Skipping & freezing. When I uninstalled Realtek, that stopped. But Startup issues & Freeze Ups remained. _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

I gave in. I'm trying again. This time, I'm installing one thing at a time & creating Restore Points for each addition. We shall see. So far. Installed W7 64 Bit, Loaded Drivers off SL DVD. Now I'm getting The Bootcamp Update for 64 Bit Windows 7. Crossing my fingers. _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

I'm Done! I don't know what the issue is. Startup problems galore. It works on all my PC's. Oh well! _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

I have finally got W7 working in Bootcamp. The 3.1 update seemed to fix my issues. But getting the update to load without freezing up my iMac, took 4 downloads & Installs. It's almost as if the original BC Drivers on the Snow Leopard DVD, made Windows worse after Installing. This has been quite an ordeal. Like I said, Installed on old P4 PC with No issues. So it's not my Disc. The iMac because it's an All In One, has many detailed Drivers & that would be my Guess why it has issues. _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

Phillip, Always Wired. I tried it both way also. The Apple Software Update in Bootcamp & from the Apple Website. It locked up both times. It looked like it was going to Lock up on the 3rd attempt but it pummelled it's way through. I have no idea what the Problem was. It's all working now. No more Start Up or Freeze Up issues. And no Audio Skipping. The Realtek Drivers off the SL DVD caused Skipping in iTunes and Windows Media Player. _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD
