|
|
I have that last generation base model Mac Mini. 2GB of RAM and 160GB hard drive. I have been using Windows 7 in Parallels Desktop and I happen to like this version. Normally I hate Windows but this seems to good so far. SO FAR. But because of my small amount of RAM I only put 768MB of RAM to 7 and it was quite fast, but I wanted to do some video editing on 7 so I need to use my full 2 gigs.
Anyway, I need to find a good size for Windows 7 in boot camp. I defiantly need some space in Mac OS, but I also need space in Windows 7 to last some time too. I have 1TB hard drive for storage. I just need space for applications and for both Windows and Mac OS to run as fast as it can on my Mini.
Thanks! _________________ Mac Mini 2009 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo 2GB RAM |

A good way to judge is by looking at how much you have used on your hard drive, minus the virtual machine size (Probably 8 GBs or so). Obviously, you should tac on at least a few more gigs for your OS X drive.
So, for example, if you have used 40 gigs on OS X, I would partition maybe 60 gigs to OS X, and the rest to Windows. It really depends on your situation though.
What kind of video editing are you going to do? iMovie doesn't suite your needs?
Also, if you feel your are going to be crammed any way you split it, you might consider upgrading your HDD. I think you can get 500 GB pretty easily. Then you could just split it down the middle and play it safe. Opening the Mini is the hardest part of the procedure. |

I was going to install a copy of Sony Vegas that a friend gave me. I love iMovie 06, but I was going to give something better a go. _________________ Mac Mini 2009 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo 2GB RAM |

The minimum requireed partition size for windows 7 is about 9GB, that said, most people that I've seen recommend at MINIMUM 16GB, and 30GB for comfort. Naturally you'll have to install programs to your data partition if you go too small, but that's up to you. _________________ Website Development |
