I've got an iMac 7,1 - aluminum Core Duo 2. I have an external 1TB WD drive connected via FireWire 400, but I basically use half of it for Time Machine and the other half to hold videos. My internal drive has been a pain to manage, with backing up old files to DVD. I really don't want to install my own drive - I've done it for years, but this iMac design looks like a real pain to open.
So, what's the best and most economical solution for running Parallels/Fuzion/InDesign/Photoshop files from an external 1 to 2TB drive?
Thanks. |

| When was the last time you did a cleaning of your iMac? i.e. Re-install OS X or restore from a Time Machine print. I would make a Time Machine backup and restore from it. This will give you room back on your internal HDD (especially if it's been a while). Then I would move my movies to the external, and use Boot Camp to install Windows and use Parallels or w/e with that. It will work much faster from an internal drive than with FW400. |

I just want advice on a good 1TB to 2TB external hard drive with FW800 as per the title of this thread. Nothing too pricey. I prefer Western Digital and loathe Seagate. If I wanted to go through all that trouble, I'd install a new hard drive inside my iMac.
Thank you. |
