|

All I hear is how fast eSata is, but no Mac I own has an eSata port. I'm sure the Mac Pro does. So Why? Or better yet, Why Not? I have 2 External Hard Drives with eSata Ports & although the Hard Drives have the Port, the Manufacturer does not even include an eSata cable? Again, Why? Thanks! If there is an obvious reason, let me know. I just don't know. _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

FYI: the MacPro only gets eSATA by user-bought-and-added expansion cards. Not sure why Jobs seems to treat eSATA like Flash or Blu-ray....
So I'm with you: "Why no eSATA, Apple?" _________________ Martin at HeadSpin HD now on Blu-ray |

Maybe to remain true to Firewire. It was Apple, who created Firewire, correct? But I would really love to have eSata on my new iMac. Just another faster option. I would use eSata for my Master Video Hard Drive for iMovie & Garage Band files, etc... _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

Or eSATA isn't quite a finished product yet, they are working on making powered eSATA which will make it a very good option for hard drives, but not much else so there is another reason it's not implemented much. _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."

the 17 inch macbook pro has an expressCard slot It will take an esata adapter.
Apple has completely missed the boat in high speed connectivity.
For an iMac the best connectivity accessory is the verge 8 port fw800 hub. I gave a link for it and it will help a bit with speed and a lot with gear connections.

Phil,
Very nice device & good investment. But a bit pricey for a Hub Repeater. I just had to ask because all I hear is how fast eSATA is.
Btw, I have a ram question I could use your help with. It's in another post. I don't want to go Off Topic.
Thanks!
