I found a Powermac G4 in the trash and it appears to be running Tiger fine. Any ideas for such a machine? It's pretty slow, but I'm thinking file server or iTunes jukebox. Or I could try selling it on Craigslist and put the money towards another Apple TV. Laughing

It's this machine with a 400 MHz (Laughing) G4, 80GB HDD, 512MB of RAM, and AGP graphics.

It's pretty slow, but works perfectly. The case is in really nice shape too. I would probably rate the overall condition at B+.

Here in the Philippines they just sold one for $350.00 in decent shape.

Put it back in the trash. Wink

I personally would have it properly recycled, but if you have the patience sell it. This is probably the most environmentally friendly way to take care of it.

Why put it into use, if you don't really need it. That's not environmentally friendly either. An Apple TV requires 1% of the power that the tower requires.

Have you checked out Apple's recycle program?

The Hackintosh community likes to use G4 and G5 cases, so that could also be an option.

Yes. They will take it, but it has no trade in value. Sad

That's what I was thinking too. I'm not looking to be greedy either. I mean, I would be happy with 30 bucks.
