| Hi, my early 2009 mini came with osx 10.5 and a pre-loaded Chess game (chess.app). Now I have updated my mini to the latest osx 10.6 and recently found that chess no longer works: when I click to open Chess, it says this version of chess.app can't be open/run in osx 10.6 and it doesn't even open for me to upgrade a new version! Does anyone know I where I can download/install the new version of chess.app? (I tried apple.com and google in no avail) Thanks |

There must be another issue at play. I played Chess just this afternoon. Works fine.

Are you running the old version of chess which came from older osx? When I tried to open my chess, it says: "You can't use this version of the application Chess.app with this version of Mac OS X. You have chess.app 2.4.1"
So which version of chess.app you have? Thanks for the help. |

I am going to assume it was on the Snow Leopard disc that I bought at the end of last August.

If so, how do I install or update the new version from the SL dvd? I think when I upgraded my osx from L to SL, I simply did "update" instead of erase/install (clean install). So the chess.app was probably not updated accordingly. Now I sure don't want to "clean install" my mini as I am in 10.6.3 (clean install SL will be a shameful "downgrade")
So how do I use the SL dvd to just install/update the new version of chess.app? Thanks for help.
Update: OK, I downloaded/installed Pacifist and used it to extract and install the new version of chess from my SL dvd. It's perfectly done. |
