Hey all.I have hard time deciding what to do.My father needs new computer. His most intensive task is photo editing. He's using photoshop and sometimes lightroom.Lately he upgrade to CS5 and his old XP box shows his age and lightroom is hardly working too.The problem is that he don't wanna spend much money ( i told him to get iMac but ... ) Then he asked me about the mini.He have monitor and everything else.So he'll need just an apple keyboard. Now my question is the mini good enough for that ? He's not profesionalist so the machine don't need to be lighting fast.I'm thinking about 2 variants - buy the previous gen mini.I'v seen some used on ebay 2.26 models with upgraded ram to 4gb for about 500Usd.And the other option is the new one but he don't rly need the better gpu so i don't know what to do.I even don't know if the mini will be able to do that smoothly.I have iMac 24 inch the last gen. before they redesign it and photoshop and lightroom runs quite good So , what do you think ? Im sry about the long post.I just need to be sure what to do as the other option is to build windows PC which me , even my father after using the imac don't wanna do.Thx:) |

Although I haven't run CS5 on anything other than my MacBook Pro, I would suggest that 4GB RAM is the minimum.
CS5 will probably be acceptable on a 2.26, but depending on what version of Lightroom, it could be a bit of a pig.
You'll get various suggestions, but I would say spend a few hundred more and do the new model Mini, the new video card will probably make a difference in overhead, and see about upgrading the RAM later to 4GB ($100 +/-). _________________ 2.0 GHz i7 Mini 8 GB RAM, OWC Merc Extreme SSD & Samsung Spinpoint
