Is there any reason a 24" iMac cannot handle a 2TB SATA hard drive?

The internal one.
Any recommendations? Been reading a lot of horror stories about iMacs heating up with some 7200rpm hard drives.
Also the new velociraptor is an option though not sure if temperature will be an isuue?!
Otherwise been looking at RE4-GP, RE4 and samsung F3 spinpoint, also F3 ecogreen
any opinions? _________________ Mac Mini Late 2009 2.26Ghz, 8GB OCZ 1333Mhz DDR3, 500GB Travelstar 7K500, 1.5TB RAID1 , Eizo S2100 , SL 10.6 |

First the one issue can your imac go to 2 Tb???? i think the max i have seen is 1 and after formatting it goes to 979,54 megs.
If it can handle it great go for it but the question you need to ask does your imac use a full size hard drive or laptop if it uses a laptop drive say hello to 800 gig's only.
However if you are using a full size drive. And the drive is sata controlled.
There is a cheap solution for a hard drive. A really cheap solution and cool solution as well go out and purchase a wd essential's drive a external not internal. Why??? First it can save you any where from 50.00 to 100.00 off the price tag of a hard drive then you just take the box apart pull the drive inside the Wd essential box and place it in your mac and you are done.
The drive inside that box is a western digital go green 1 tb and stays cool as all get out..
I have three in my g5 tower love em they are so cool it's scary.
funny it only cost me 150.00 for all three.. |
