| I just hooked up my ethernet cable out on my new extreme base station to my mini. It shows ethernet connected also it shows my wireless is working. So how do I know for sure what I am using to connect to the internet? |

Mine always defaults to wireless even though its set to be wired as the primary connection, therefore I always do as Philip has suggested and turn off the wireless when I'm not using it and forces my connections to go through the wired network. _________________ Phil

| Ok I did that thanks guys. My airtunes still works which is great but I wonder how when airport is turned off. Makes me wonder if I am really connected wired. I want it to work otherwise I would have to run wirelessly most the time I like using airtunes, but want to make sure I am running wired for the best connection. Also less interference on the other wireless networks so they run even smoother. |

System Preferences-->Network-->AirPort-->Make sure "Show AirPort status in menu bar" is checked
When AirPort is off, the AirPort icon in the menu bar will be greyed out and/or blank:
When it's on, the icon will display bars according to the strength of the signal:
