Contact editing

Hi folks,

Strange one here. Using MobileMe on my 2 x Macs, 1 x work PC, 1 x iPhone. The example of my problem is this:

I have a 'Dave Smith' as a contact sync'd between my devices. I want to remove 'Smith', so that 'Dave' is just the viewable name. I edit out 'Smith', on either the me.com site, on my iPhone, or on my Mac(s) / PC and all is fine.

However, a while later, the 'Smith' automatically returns and is again sync'd across all of my devices. It doesn't matter on what device I remove Smith, it will always return within an hour or two and be re-sync'd across my devices.

Does anyone know how to stop this? In the real world I have a number of contacts whereby I wish to remove this surnames, but it keeps putting them back!

Something must be taking precedence for some reason.

For the record, this problem is caused by the cached email addresses held within Mail.

With Mail loaded, go to Window > Previous Recipients from the menu bar, remove the offending name/address and all will be right with the world.
