I walked into a Best Buy - Austin, at Noon launch day, they had the 32 and 64 models in stock. You see these crazy long lines online. and Austin is a tech town with an Apple operation here too.
I played with it for 35-45 min. No crowds, only a handful of people checking out the 4 display models (mostly BB employees).
I liked the slideshow button on the lockscreen, but you can only turn slideshow on and off from there. Netflix was set up and ran well over wifi. Most apps were native iPhone ones, when upsized 2X, they were less crisp. Video looked fine (not widescreen friendly), photos looked excellent.
I didn't like the glossy, smudgy touchscreen. I kept wanting to wipe it clean, it looked nasty, esp when turned off. maybe it was the flouroescent store lights? hopefully a matte screen protector can fix this.
Not a must have for me at the price or my needs, so I'll wait til I can get a cheaper used 3G one later in the year (excel. shopper). |
