Posted by: Glenn
Apple today announced that the iPad will be available in all 221 US Apple retail stores and most Best Buy stores this Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. The company is also offering a free Personal Setup service to every customer who buys an iPad at the store, helping them customize their new iPad by setting up their email, loading their favorite apps from the App Store, and more. Also beginning Saturday morning, all US Apple retail stores will host special iPad workshops to help customers learn more about the new device.

I have mine pre - ordered @ an Apple store, just sitting on the fence whether or not I want to pull the trigger. I think it might be kind of cool to be in there with a bunch of other purchasers, seeing what they get etc., and knowing when you walk out the thing is already up & running.
On the other hand, makes me wonder how much longer this is going to make the purchases and hold up the line. _________________

I am extremely curious to see how well it sells the first 30 days out. But I'm mad that Apple has not as yet released a mini-display port input for it that would allow it to be used as a portable monitor for the Mac Mini. If they make an add-on accessory that offers that, I'll definitely buy it. Otherwise, not too sure what I would do with it. _________________ Retired: Altair 8800, PET, TI 99/4A, Apple II

No, but they did place a hold on my card for the iPad case as of yesterday. I'm sure if you check your card account, you'll likely see a hold for your iPad. ...I ordered the 3G version, so not expecting a hold on that anytime soon. |

I'm waiting until the second or third generation until I get one, if I do at all. It looks like a really fun product to have, but as long as I can still read books made out of paper, I'm most likely not going to invest in one. _________________ 2.0 Ghz 2007 Mac mini (120 GB HD, 2 GB RAM, 10.6.4)

| I think I want one just for safari and mail. Maybe a couple apps. I think the base one would work fine until I realize I like using it for more than that. So I may step it up to 32gb. |

| Are your tracking pages being updated on UPS as far as location? I'm still showing Billing Information Received. |

I didn't miss the vanishing CD music stores, nor the demise of Hollywood Video, or even the apparent pending loss of BlockBuster, but I'm going to be really upset if Bookstores follow the dinosaurs to extinction. _________________ Retired: Altair 8800, PET, TI 99/4A, Apple II

Well, today is the big day! I haven't been this excited about an Apple product in a long time. Every app I hear about just sounds cooler and cooler. It's going to be a fun weekend. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

...those of us that ordered the 3G version have to wait a while ...and listening to all the good things people are saying about the iPad and seeing all the cool apps is making it feel like an eternity
I was tempted to just get the WiFi version yesterday. |
