I got a new iPod Mini today (apparently I have an affinity for Apple branded merchandise with name "Mini"), and I'm having the damnedest time figuring something out. How in the heck do I get the alarm to play music?

When I go to Extras> Clock> Alarm Clock> Sound, my only option is "Beep," and in all actuality that's all the thing does when it goes off. It beeps. Once. Not much of an alarm clock...

Select playlist. You'll only be able to hear this with headphone or an external speaker.

Thanks G5.

The problem was that "playlist" was not showing up; only "beep." So I created a playlist by saving out my "On The Go" list. Still didn't work. So I did some deeper digging. Found several posts on the problem at iPod Lounge (where, really, I should have checked first, but I like y'all better). Apparently, it will only work with playlists you create in iTunes. Unfortunately I won't actually be able to confirm that until my Mini arrives. Right now I'm using an old G3 266 (beige a/v) that only has USB 1.1. (In case you're wondering my boss at my old job let me come in to load the songs I have on the iPod using his eMac).

I appreciate the help, and I'll post next week whether or not this is the problem (although I'm sure it is).

You mean your Mac mini arrives? Cool let me know what happens. You may need to reset you iPod mini if on the go playlists are not being created.
