|
|
EyeTV recordings con (afaik) only be watched on the aTV when they are first converted to H264. However this process takes in general just as long as the recording itself and is a big waste of time for recordings that will be watched onetime only.
Is there a way to make TV recording visible/playable without first converting to H264. Or are there other formats that are playable.
Plex/XBMC is not a solution for me since I prefer not to hack the aTV.

You don't want to hear this but hear goes. Buy a mac mini and mount it where the aTV is. aTv will not do what you want. I have 2 mini's and an iMac because I can not be bothered with the decoding. It sucks because it is expensive a new 2.26ghz mini with 4gb ram is all you need. the 2.26ghz go for 499 as an apple refurbished. ram is about 80 bucks if you diy. total is 580 links below note the minis sell out very fast. I am posting this at 830 am east coast time all the refurbed minis are sold out at this time.

Elgato makes a "Turbo.264HD" which
speeds up your conversion. If you don't
convert into HD you can use the older,
less expensive "Turbo.264" NON HD model.
Maybe you can find an older NON HD
version on eBay.
Here is a comparison. _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with
