I installed a 512mb chip last night and system profiler still says 256mb. Do I need to do something or could it be a bad chip? I took it out and tried it in a PC and it worked fine. I'm stumped, this is only my second Mac and the first time I've tried to upgrade memory in a Mac.

Mine showed up automatically when I booted up. I think Mac's are really picky about memory chips.

I took apart my mini again and inspected things and then re-seated the memory. I re-booted and bingo it showed up. I was pretty sure it would show up automatically. Thanks for the response!

me too! I'm pretty impressed with it so far. My only gripe is the hard drive is super slow.

Yes they are fussy. Sometimes I think it's a scheme from Apple to get your memory from them. lol
