I just picked up a mini (the first time I've brought anything from apple) and my only regret is not getting one sooner. I'm trying to setup my mail from the dock and I keep on getting this message "Logging in to mail server “plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com” failed. This server may require an additional fee for Yahoo! POP access. For more information, visit Yahoo! Mail Plus." Is there anyway around this? Also when I restart my mini, my firefox icon doesn't show up in the dock. I have to keep putting it back. And I'm using an old gateway keyboard and I'm trying to find a way to use the "home" and "end" keys. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Congratulations on the new Mini, Bobbster

If you want Firefox to stay in the dock CTRL Click on the icon when its in the dock and select "Keep In Dock",
{edit} if your using Snow Leopard "Keep In dock" is now in the Options section of the menu that appears

I'm not familiar with Yahoo Mail

I found this though
Quote:

Yahoo! Mail Settings

Yahoo Mail offers standard POP3 access for receiving emails incoming through your Yahoo mailbox, by using your favorite email client software. To setup your email client for working with your Yahoo account, you need to select the POP3 protocol and use the following mail server settings:

Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.mail.yahoo.com (port 110)
Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com (port 25)

POP Yahoo! Mail Plus email server settings

Yahoo Plus Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 995)
Yahoo Plus Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 465, use authentication)

I take it the Mail Plus is an additional service, so if you don't subscribe to the service try just using the standard account settings.

I'm not sure on the keyboard one, I've always used the Apple Keyboards.

I couldn't find anything specific about the home and end keys. But here are a few websites that give equivalent mappings for other keys / options.

I've always had the non paying one because I didn't need the extra storage. I tried the Yahoo settings that you posted Cypher and it didn't work but its no deal breaker. I can get by. markw thanks for the links, I'll check them out. Great feedback on these forums. By the way Cypher I've been looking at "ScreenCastsOnline" (I saw that you recommended it on another thread) and there's plenty of info there. Thanks.

Welcome!

I'm not sure what the problem is that you are having with the keyboard. Could you explain it a bit more?

Thanks. I was just talking about moving the cursor from the beginning or the end of a text using the home and end keys. But I found the answer in the link (http://www.xvsxp.com/misc/keyboard.php) that markw provided. Thanks markw Cool

billb has linked to a thread in which I mentioned this solution for getting free POP access to a Yahoo Mail account:

http://picobit.wordpress.com/2009/04/10/yahoo-mail-free-pop-access/

Try it: it works!
