What are best options to work on my Mac Mini while I'm on my Winodws 7 laptop ? I've tried using VNC into my Mac Mini but it seems to be slow after sometime. My mac mini is connected directly to router using ehternet cable. I've Laptop on wireless home network. My mac mini is connected to 50" Plasma TV for HTPC usage. Mac mini is connected to HDMI switch. There are bunch of other devices that also goes into HDMI switch. And single HDMI cable runs from switch to Plasma TV.
I want to use my mac mini from my laptop while other people are watching TV shows or movies from PS3 or cable box.
It see after I connect to my Mac mini using VNC viewer from laptop it works fine for initially couple of minutes but after that the screen becomes stagnant as if it is going into screen saver mode.
Is there any better solution to remotely login into Mac mini to use it as if you are sitting in front of it from Windows 7 machine ? _________________ CHEERS

You could also try using logmein.com for remote connections to the mini. One advantage to logmein is it's ability to use black and white for the connection. This makes better use of network bandwidth. I use it to remote control a mini at the in-laws behind a slow internet link. Works much faster than VNC over the same link (as VNC will only do full color).
Which VNC client program are you using on Windows? I've found RealVNC is a little more stable than TightVNC (but haven't done any debugging to figure out why).
Is your wifi connection stable and fast? |
