A geekbench test has been posted for a MacBook Pro 6,1 with an Intel i7 processor, giving a mark of 5260. This compares to current models with ratings of 3700 to 4000 for a 2.66 gHz processor. The processor is listed as an Intel Core i7 M 620 running at 2.66GHz. The OS posted is a non-shipping build of Mac OS X 10.6.2 (Build 10C3067). This could indicate a refresh of the MacBook Pro line may not be too far off, possibly within a few months depending on how fast this new Intel processor inventory can ramp up. OS 10.6.3 is also been reported seeded to developers. Posted on MacRumors.com.

In the meantime, I'm trying to find a solution to "move out" of the mini so that I can officially sell it. TC would kill two birds with one stone because we're still using my ancient dell "g" router. hmmm

I went ahead and got it. I don't think I would notice the difference in the processors for what I do (listening to music, school, watching movies). I sold the iMac and picked up a G4 1.5 GHZ Mac Mini. It may not be as fast as the iMac but it will work just fine for what I need it to do.

I sure wish they would go ahead and update them, I'm itching to spend the cash I have saved for it. I'm probably going to pick up a Time Capsule while waiting. I'm still running an old Dell wireless-g router, wanting wireless-n before I get the MBP...
