My kids LOVE that game. Of course, they each have their own Mac Minis...so I don't have to worry about kicking them off of MY computer. _________________ -=iMav=-

I've played this games on my mini...
Call of Duty: Grate, sometimes choppy, but playable
Neverwinter nights: Very playable, low video configuration
The Sims 2: Very playable, low video configuration
Halo: Works fine
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3: Works fine
Kill Monty: xD, fantastic
War Craft III: Works fine
I'd know how it works Diablo II.
My mini: 1'42Ghz, 512 MB Ram, 80 GB HD |

We had some people over this weekend and I downloaded the demo on all three of our minis, our iMac, and my Thinkpad laptop. Had loads of fun. There is actually a lot of functionality for a free demo. VERY nice. _________________ -=iMav=-

| The real game is only $10 for both PC and Mac since it's so old. URL here. Pick yourself up a copy, I don't know how crippled the demo is, but the original Unreal Tournament was probably the best multiplayer deathmatch game ever made. People will argue that, but I love Unreal. |

To clarify, we were playing the demo of UT2004, no the original Unreal Tournament. _________________ -=iMav=-

| Oh, well, you should try it out; nothing beats the classics. UT2K4 is a great game. Glad to hear it works on a Mac, now if only my extra-nice DVD PC copy had dual-binaries. Stupid Blizzard getting me hooked on dual-binary cds... |

HALO HALO!
i know its an old game, but its so much fun, i have the basic of basic minis and it runs pretty good, some lag in campaign, but perfect on multiplayer with slow dsl.
i beat the game in under 5 hours of playing straight _________________ Mac Mini 1.25 GHz W/ Panther 10.3.9

What's your % overclock with it? I've seen reports of 40% core and 30ish% VRAM with it. I run it at 9% and 7% respectively. I haven't been very willing to play around with it. _________________ Computer Engineer

everyone who doesn't have it should go buy the warcraft 3 battlechest, comes with the original and expansion (and the game hints books for both even tho i didnt need em, its still cheaper to buy the battlechest then wc3 original and the frozen throne (expansion)) ALSO.
AMERICA'S ARMY PLAYS ON IT!!!
*THE GREATEST FPS THERE IS*
*ITS FREE!*
go to www.americasarmy.com and check it out. they still only support v.2.30 for mac though, 2.4 will be out soon. go to google.com and search AmericasArmy v.2.30 and choose a good site to download it from, because on the americasarmy they no longer have the download for 2.3, but don;t worry, 2.4 should be out within next month for macs! _________________ Gone. |

Ok, you guys have pretty much convinved me of buying Warcraft and everything, but do you have to turn the vid setting all the way down? I can live with that, but it is alittle disapointing.
Also, I'm on a stock 1.25 cpu with the 256mb of RAM. I can't believe that Americas Army will run it the mini.. Cmon.. I ran it with 24 FPS on my geforce 4 mx440 64mb card and with alot of the vid settings turned down.. I only have the stock hard drive for my mini right now so I'm trying to be alittle conservative about my space.
If so many people are running these games smoothly and everything I believe them, but can you tell me the FPS youre getting in AA? I will DL it as soon as I know but I don't want to be stuck with a laggy game ya know.. i loved that game for my PC and it would be probably all I play but there were some major FPS issues with the game. Maybe it was fised alittle bit in the update, I was playing back in the day haha..
___
edit: umm, where is the link for a mac download? haha it has mirrors ot windows downloads, and the FAQ says just 'click the downlod' but i really don't see it! am I crazy?
but yeah tell me if I can run hese games fairly well.. heck I may just DL AA right now and delete it if it's too bad... |

| America's Army will run smoothly on the mini IF you have 1GB RAM and not too much running in the background. Don't even think about running it with the original stock 256MB RAM. It ran better at 512MB but 1GB makes it smooth (20-35FPS is my guess). This is with the stock 1.42Ghz 80GB HD model that came out in January 2005. I don't have it installed any more, but I tested it out shortly after getting the Mac Mini in Jan. 2005. It was running at 1024x768 (I think) with most of the settings quite high. With 256MB I had every setting at the bare minimum (lowest or off) and it was still choppy. |
