What games can be played on the base 1.25 Mhz Mac Mini (256 MB or 1 GB RAM upgrade)?
We all know Doom 3 is out of the question, but what about Medal of Honor or Call of Duty or ... ? |

Believe it or not...World of Warcraft is VERY playable on the mini. (mine is the 1.42Ghz with 1GB ram)
I was VERY surprised when I attempted it last night. It plays SO well, if fact, that I will likely abandon the windows partition on my PC all together (I HAD planning on keeping XP on there strictly for gaming).
Warcraft III (and the expansion The Frozen Throne) play very well too! _________________ -=iMav=-

surely the Mac Mini can run something better.
This homme in France just released his port(s) of Hexen, Quake, and Doom for the Palm (click Projects). And if OS5 can run these great games... |

Global thermal nuclear war…how about a nice game of chess… I’m not a huge gamer but I bought Call of Duty for the Mac and it plays pretty good on the mini. I'd love to get into WOW, I've heard its a great game. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

considering I haven't seen any posts here yet about games that do NOT work on the mini...
...either the mini is proving to be a very capable gaming system, or 123Macmini users simply do NOT game that much..
(perhaps just spending too much time ON 123Macmini.com) heh! _________________ -=iMav=-

Well, Railroad Tycoon 3 works really well on the Mini. But that's no suprise. It's not a particularly demanding game.
I guess I just don't game very much anymore. Not many games are conducive to playing for 15-20 minute stretches, and I just don't have the time to sit down and play for a couple hours at a crack anymore... I wish I did. I love a good strategy game... I wish they made Cossacks or American Conquest for the Mac... |

Ok, let's make this thread useful. What have you actually PLAYED on your mini (and, of course, how did if fair?)?
All of the following play great on my 1.42Ghz/1GB mini:
- World of Warcraft
- Warcraft III (and the expansion Frozen Throne) _________________ -=iMav=-

Most games are going to work on the mini. It's more about frame rates and if they run smoothly. The mini is a capable Mac but with its slow hard drive speed and 32mb video die hard Mac gamers aren't going to use it for their primary gaming system. I just ordered Halo from Amazon, when it comes I'll let you know how it looks. |

I've got the 1.4, but if that isn't too far different, I can say Knights of the Old republic is working well with a Gig of memory.
Looking forward to True Crime from Aspyr, myself. |
