Apple Releases Second Firmware Update for Fickering 27" iMacs

Apple has released a second firmware update that aims to address screen flickering issues with the 27-inch iMac. According the company, the 27-inch iMac Display Firmware Update 1.0 updates the display firmware on 27-inch iMac computers to address issues that may cause intermittent display flickering. The update weighs in at 294KB and requires Mac OS X 10.6.2. Owners can learn more about installation and the prior 27-inch iMac Graphics Firmware Update 1.0 in the following support document.

Does apple really think this will fix this???
It seems more a hardware issue then just a firmware update..
Oh well hopefully this works. |

this is holding my purchase back. I want a 27inch iMac and I have been waiting for the fix to be in!

If at first you do succeed...
I think the reports of flickering and yellow tinting would have me sitting on the sidelines until the next update. I pretty much stand by my comment in the thread for the "graphics" update. I would stay clear of revision A iMacs.

This has turned me off as well. Apple should probably just halt production until the issue is fixed. I think that would give me a little more confidence about buying one. |
