Magic Mouse Helps Apple Double Market Share

NPD Group is reporting that Apple has doubled its share of US mice sales during the month of November. This puts them at a reported 10% market share, behind the likes of Logitech and Microsoft, since the Magic Mouse was introduced in late October. And just think, these strong numbers are kind of before BetterTouchTool and MagicPrefs even hit the scene. It could be onward and upwards!

My girlfriends Mighty Mouse is defective. It's making clicking noises just by slightly touching the casing. The click buttons aren't even being depressed. I called Apple today and tried to get a Magic Mouse to replace it, but it's a NO go. They are going to send me another Mighty Mouse.
I hope the Magic Mouse is a much better mouse. I think it will be very reliable. |

I got one for Christmas. I like it much better than the Mighty Mouse to this point, especially with MagicPrefs for Expose. The scroll ball on my Mighty Mouse got jammed up so many times. The Magic Mouse still has the rocker action, but it feels way more solid.

Did the gray plastic band that goes around the bottom crack? I had that happen to one before having it replaced. |

I like my Magic Mouse pretty well. Using gestures, rather than a trackball, are really what makes it. If there is a shortcoming, I would say that it would be battery life. But, by using high end photographic grade batteries, it is certainly nothing to be concerned about.

I don't see a crack on the grey band on the bottom of the mouse. It does however look like the grey band is further up into the mouse toward the front of the mouse. Kind of like the mouse is already half way clicked. I'm not too sure what the issue is, but when I used her mouse I noticed right away that there was an issue. She said that sometimes the left click didn't work. Perhaps it was remaining in clicked state. She said she didn't drop it. It's very clean and probably 3 month old, with rather light use.
Hopefully this type of issue will be resolved with the new design. |

| I still think the Magic Mouse is a step up from the Mighty Mouse, but it's so darn flat. Holding it just feels totally uncomfortable to me. That being said, I do have larger hands. |

| I really like Magic Mouse so far, and so do most people that use my Mac. I have a PC at work, with a pretty cool Logitech mouse, the AirMax, and often think I can do gestures on it; it can get confusing using different mice. |

Ditto. I'm also hooked on the momentum based scrolling, so that throws me off as well.

| You sold me on the new keyboard Bandit, but you got a lot of work to do with the Magic Mouse. I was feeling CTS come on after a couple minutes of usage at Best Buy. I have no love for the ergonomics whatsoever. I did appreciate the multi-touch features though. It's smooth and sexy that way for sure. |

I recently upgraded to the new Apple wireless keyboard and am getting used to it. It actually types pretty good; it's not as small in usage as it appears to the eye, and it fits neatly into small netbook carry cases and 14 inch carry bags. But I'm not sold on the magic mouse, as the above comment has scared me off. You need some "bump" in the mouse to prevent carpel tunnel syndrome. Apple should understand this, having virtually re-invented the whole mouse thing from Xerox over 20 years ago.

I assume you're joking as you probably know that I hate ALL Apple mice. I haven't tried the new Magic Mouse out yet, but I'm quite certain that it would be well undersized for my liking.
Glad you like the new keyboard. I think they are great. I couldn't see myself ever going back to a traditional design. The chicklet keys are great.
The only reason my girlfriend is using the Mighty Mouse is because it came with the iMac. She's not fussy like me. |

I like my Magic better than the Mighty... and the new add-on gestures make it even better, just loaded those. wow.
for sofa use with my HTPC setup it's great. |
