| I hope it's the Apple tablet - I've been convinced by the rumors that I "need" one. ...it'll replace my portable gaming system, eReader, NetBook, and make life so much easier (or so they say). |

Believe me... Apple will disappoint with with this event just like they have with every other past event. Apple may not disappoint you in particular but there will be plenty of complaints, just as there is after any Apple event. I think the biggest issue is people set their expectations too high. Rumors get churned over and over again. By the time the event takes places, you'd think Apple was going to change the world as we know it.
Personally, I'm content with Apple's current product line. I'm grateful for what I have. I really don't see my needs changing a great deal any time soon. I'm always excited about the world of Apple. I just don't set any expectations. I just take it as it comes. I personally feel guilty about doing so little with the equipment that I already have, and I use it every day

Classic example of what I was just writing about above. Hopefully you get your tablet |

| I don't really follow the Apple rumor sites, but my expectations are already tempered. I think my main concern with such a device would be with pricing. I think anything above the $799 mark is going to be a tough sell for someone like myself. Even if the device doubles as a fantastic eReader with Kindle type connectivity into iTunes for buying books and magazines. |

I don't think Apple will disappoint on having a tablet. I just think some people will come away disappointed with the features, operating system or cost of the device. I mean, expectations are so high for this thing. How can it ever live up to all of them? _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

I can almost write the story now.
1. Steve Jobs pulls out tablet and crowd goes wild.
2. Early adopters state they ordered one, fences sitters sit on the fence, haters bitch about everything in between.
3. Glowing review comes out from Walt Mossberg.
4. People that ordered one get excited about tracking numbers and ship dates.
5. Unboxing pictures start showing up on Flickr.
6. That iFixit site rips one apart.
7. Users have early complaints about quality.
8. The hype starts slowing down from overload.
9. Users start complaining about the limitations of the tablet.
10. Engadget posts "what would you change about the Apple tablet" article.
11. Apple releases first software update to address early issues.
12. People start talking about the next update.
Okay, what did I miss? |

You forgot to mention the $100+ price drop and the 60GB SSD (just guessing) version getting dropped after a few weeks causing much anger among early adopters. |

It sounds like a certain someone was burnt with an ATV, MBA or original iPhone.
You might be right though. Something like that could fall between 11 and 12. |

I'm interested in six points when it comes to the Apple tablet.
Price: Someone else mentioned $799, but I'm hoping for something closer to $599.
Battery life: How many hours? It should be insane with a larger form factor than the iPhone. An OLED screen should help as well.
Quality of the screen: Will it be OLED? How's it look outside? Those are the questions and concerns.
Bluetooth: Will it support a keyboard and mouse for input?
Operating system: Which one will it run?
Books: Will Apple have a bookstore from the get-go?
Coffee: Will it brew me a cup? That ones for you Tony! _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

To be honest, I think Apple is going to be happy enough selling downloads for while. I don't see things moving towards a subscription service with everything residing in the cloud just yet. Maybe down the road, but not yet. I do think it's the future though. Your content lives up there and can be beamed down to any device at any time or place. It also eliminates storage concerns as movies and stuff continue to grow in size and quality. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

Yeah. We'll all be composing spreadsheet formulas using Wii controllers... _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

That might be a very prophetic comment, Bill. Fingers = touchscreens = tablets.... _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

| I'm not sure if I'll be buying the iSlate, iPad, iTablet or whatever it's called next week, but I can't wait to see one in action. Some of the doubts I was having before are starting to drift away now. I may even be a buyer down the road. Okay, pass the Kool-Aid please! |

I already stream practically every song ever made to my iPhone, Mac and PC. It's called Rhapsody. I would ditch that service and come over to Apple if they beat them at $12.99 a month though. |
