Hey Everyone,
Just joined the forum!
Not sure if this belongs here.... Anyway.....
I've been a mac user for over a year and I'm considering a new Mac Mini as an addition to my other two Macs, laptop & desktop, and my concern is this.....
Can I remove Snow Leopard 10.6 on a new Mac Mini and install Leopard 10.5 instead?
If so, would it run okay and be stable?
Thanks So Much! |

I can't see why not.
Provided your Tiger disk is a Intel one.
Why not give it a try.
Its unlikely you'll do any harm.
Worst that will happen is that you will have to reinstall SL.

Thanks Aquafire... I would be installing Leopard not Tiger.
I do know that it would not hurt the system and that I could always reinstall Snow Leopard, but I need it to specifically run Leopard due to a specific version of software that will not ever be compatible with Snow Leopard because it has been changed for Snow Leopard. |

You got me curious...
I have a new, the current model mini, and I just tried, and booted successfully from an external drive with leopard on it.
Absolutely no problems at all, so if I wanted to clone this drive back to my mini's internal it would run without a hitch. _________________ DropBox, free cloud storage for all, check it out Here |

I do know that you can't install 10.5.0 directly to the current Mac minis due to lack of hardware support, but it will run off 10.5.8. I don't know about 10.5.4 specifically. See my tip on how to install it here:

I have to correct my earlier post.
After playing with my new mini and Leopard 10.5, I did find although it boots and appears to run find there are some glitches which would render the combination as unsuitable.
When I tried to run "Activity Monitor" I received an error "cannot run this application - hardware unsupported", there are probably more problems so I dropped the experiment. _________________ DropBox, free cloud storage for all, check it out Here |
