I'm not sure who buys these without OpenGL support, but this one does appear to support higher resolutions than other ones I've seen. Oh well, I'm just glad my Mac mini supports dual displays.

Does anyone know if these USB adapters affect performance? ...if it does, is just the graphics card, or CPU/RAM too?

It does appear to be higher. Most of the ones I have seen max out at like 1680x1050.

I have read they can be hard on the CPU and GPU. They said it can peg things out and you start getting dropped frames. That being said, I don't have any first hand experience with them. There might have been other issues involved.

I just got a cheaper one for about $30 for my 2007 mini, although it doesn't support anything above 1024 X 768, but I'm stuck with CRTs from the late '90s, so that doesn't really matter all that much to me.

I wonder if this would work as a second screen for Logic 8 on my Mini?. I just need an extra screen to put the mixer on so I don't have to keep opening & close it everytime I need to change the volume on a track. I wonder how graphic intensive the mixer screen is? any one tried this?
