Chrome for Mac Beta Released
Tuesday, December 8, 2009
Posted by: Kenan
Google has released the first public beta version of their Chrome browser for Mac users. As many of you know, the developer builds of the popular web browser have been around for almost six months, but build number 4.0.249.30 marks the first beta release of the software offered to the public. And I think you will agree, it was well worth the wait. The Chrome for Mac beta weighs in at 17.6MB an requires and Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later.

Downloading as I type. I'm looking forward to trying this on the Mac - it seems very fast in Linux.
Update: It is fast in OSX too; definitely faster than Safari. _________________ Mini 1: 2.3 ghz Core i5; 8 gb RAM, Corsair 240gb SSD, 500 gb Seagate XT

| I've only been using it for the last couple weeks, but I'm thoroughly impressed. It's smoking fast! |

| Does it have the auto-update thing like Picasa for Mac? If so, count me out. |

Every time I see the Chrome icon, I get this nostalgic urge to play Simon... _________________ "You can't have a light without a dark to stick it in." - Arlo Guthrie

"Smokin' Fast".... Exactly the words I was going to use to describe it.
All I need now is a developer toolbar, and its bye-bye Firefox!
Fire baby, its been good, but... |

| I'm glad to see the beta finally released. It's been my default browser for the last few months. I think Chrome is just as fast as Safari without all the bloat. Now, all we need are those extensions like they released for the Windows and Linux today. I guess it's going to take a little more time though. |

I've downloaded it, but I'm not all that certain about switching from Safari to using it. Maybe I'll just keep it in my Applications folder, just like Firefox and only use it when I'm bored. Or maybe for some reason I'll go full time with it. Who knows??? _________________ 2.0 Ghz 2007 Mac mini (120 GB HD, 2 GB RAM, 10.6.4)

I don't know about switching from Safari, but I'm really impressed with the speed. The words smoking or smokin might not do it justice. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

Me too! I would love to know how that icon relates to anything chrome.
No complaints about the browser itself though. It seems really fast and pretty darn stable. |

| When I had dial up and a pc I really liked chrome. Now I had a Mac for awhile, and got dsl I can't see myself going back. I noticed the speed increase on dial up, but not now if barely. Actually I think Safari is the fastest because it's more intuitive to my needs. I am gonna give chrome a try for sure, and I already did for a bit. I just love Safari bookmark arrangements nothing comes close for me. That alone makes it the speed king. |

| I do like the PC version of Chrome, pretty nice interface and speed. ...but don't want to give up Safari because of how it synchs with MobileMe and other Mac's, if you have more than one (like keeping favorites synched). If Google/Apple work that out in MobileMe, than I might consider switching. |

| Chrome has been my default browser across all platforms for a while now. Guess you can call me a sucker for tabs on top and speed. |
