Not a yank sorry, a lot of the world isn't, believe it or not, just kiddin
But I do find it intriguing watching all the hoopla, pomp, & ceremony that surrounds the build-up to US elections, and the subsequent events. |

Oh, I know--the lateness of the hour and "Australia" were "hints" lol
I didn't watch any of it (this bozo didn't impress me in the least-my gut said he is an empty suit and it looks like my gut was right).
Finally, quick question before someone complains I'm off topic-- Is it true a while back your PM Kevin Rudd said "no" to Sharia Law in Australia? If yes, America needs a leader like him. Cheers. |

From what I've observed, Obama seems far more intelligent/pragmatic then the previous so-called leader you had.
But that's just what I'm deciphering from what is mostly piss-poor journalism throughout advanced economies nowadays.
And aside from that ....
The way I see democracy best working is that people need to be smarter and much better informed than what is filtered through to them. You should never ever think along party lines or vote for individuals because; you like them more or because you think the team as whole "seems" more polished, or because you think x party represents your core values (I mean wtf?) It must always comes down to:
1) What has the incumbent done?
2) Have they achieved most things they said the would or at least come close given the circumstances?
1) What is the pretender to the throne claiming they can do?
2) Is it realistic, have they provided "any" detail?
3) Do you agree with the things they say they're going to do
4) What is the basis for you disagreeing/agreeing is it coming from a place of true understanding of the issue?
etc. etc..
Re the Sharia question....
Sharia is basically local by-laws put to pen by Muslim scholars over hundreds of years & constantly being reinvented/reinterpreted according to the region.
Muslims only account 1.7% of the population in Oz and even in pockets where there is high concentration it rarely creeps above 50%.
Heck there's still a lot more Buddhists than Muslims here. So they haven't got much of an argument for their own laws.
Besides that, no sovereign state would allow for one community within it to have it's own set of laws by which it's governed.
It just doesn't make practical sense, most if not everything in our legal system already covers what a moderate interpretation would anyway.
I've actually never heard of what you're talking about so it can't have been as big an issue here as it was over there.
Anyway, if you want to respond to this I think you're best off msging me, as we're waaaaay off topic.
cheers

Very good points on politics and about Sharia Law. Yes, we're way off topic--totally my fault-.
Thanks again. Enjoy Parallels5?/VM Ware Fusion 3?/what ever other emulation software you choose to get.
