internet speed

anyone know why internet access is slower on a mac than a pc? i am running safari with safari speed 1.3 (gets rid of page loading delay) and road runner premium cable. safari is pretty fast (but not instant) and internet explorer much slower. loading is slower than on a pc on same connection. i have a well optimized mac mini with 1 gig ram and 7200 hard drive. any suggestions would be appreciated.

i dissagrere my internet seems faster on my mac than my old AMD box. try firefox with the speed boster and ill bet ull be happy

Try deleting ~/Library/Safari/history.plist or resetting Safari. Safari > Reset Safari.

I have been formerly using PC's for a very long time (early 80's) and when I switched from the PC to my Mac I noticed a considerable improvement in the speed of Internet and Safari. You just might want to contact your ISP (Internet service provider) and request a line/speed test. I did this and my speed was verified to the advertised speed of the ISP.

Just curious though; have you moved house; or moved the Mac Recently. It could be related if you have.

just switched from cable to verizon fios. 15000 mbs speed. on dsl reports i get 14700 download speed but 565 upload. pc on same set up gets 1800 upload and similar downloads. they make optimizers for pc tcp/ip but not mac. internet explorer is slower on mac than pc. safari is faster for me then explorer.

just curious if anyone knows the in and outs of mac vs pc on the internet. i am paying for premium services and would like fastest internet possible.

any suggestions would be helpful

ps. i emptied histrory plist. cleaned cash have few bookmarks etc. using safari speed to get rid of page loading delay

also have pop up blocker and private internet off. i think these can slow it down also.

let me know. i feel the need for speed.
