Hi All,
I am a little confused here with limited experience so I'm going to the people with the knowledge. I purchased a Mac Pro 3.2ghz Harpertown edition with a NVIDIA Geforce 8800 gt 512 with two dual link DVI ports. Here is the issue, first off I was under the impression the Mac Pro was touted as being an Ultra quiet machine. This desktop sounds as if it may takeoff from the top of my desk top. Very loud fan/high pitch whine. Second I have no signal from the video display. I tried both DVI ports. Do I need to do something other than plug it in to either display port. I had it running thru a DVI kvm which I bypassed and had the same result going direct. I have an ear full on deck for Apple but want to make sure I am not suffering from lack of knowledge on the Mac box first. Any experience is appreciated. Thanks C.J. |

Not really sure if they advertised it as quiet per say, but am surmising that it is a heat generating machine...which would make me believe that cooling fans would be actively working. Perhaps quiet relative to previous MacPros. Not something most people would want to keep in their bedroom I would guess. _________________ 2.0 GHz i7 Mini 8 GB RAM, OWC Merc Extreme SSD & Samsung Spinpoint

ez061111, if this is an Apple refurb, you should call Apple on their 800 #. Mac Pros are supposed to be very quiet, and whatever the issue is with your Mac, it's best to let Apple help you figure it out if you're not familiar with troubleshooting a Mac. Mac Pros only sound like jet engines when something is wrong.
