I've just gotten into Diablo 2 again on my Mini. Luckily Blizzard creates CDs with binaries for both Macs and PCs, so that's awesome. They also recently created an OS X installer for Diablo 2 so that it's OS X native and doesn't need Classic anymore.
The problem right now is that it constantly crashing my Mini. I'm thinking it's a video card error because I've read about that before and when it crashes sometimes the screen gets weird. It's hard to explain, but it gets messed up. Has anyone else had a problem with Diablo 2 on the Mini?
Oh, I turned off ATIccelerator also (I was at 9/ , and that didn't change anything. _________________ Computer Engineer

| Thanks for reminding me. That was one of the few games I bought for the PC. I might have to load it up just for the heck of it. |

Okay, I did like they suggested on the other forums and changed the rendering mode to software. Game actually runs a lot smoother, even with my 256Mb RAM. Also, it doesn't seem to crash anymore, so I guess it's problem solved.
EDIT: Game still crashes. The problem seems to be random and only whne I go to the Join Game list and it starts to retrieve the list of active games. It's really weird.
If anyone wants to play with me, I play on USEast. _________________ Computer Engineer

I'm trying to buy it, but I always finds in stores the "Best seller series" version. And in the box of this version only says the expecifications to windows, so I suppose that is not the hibrid CD version XD.
And, as I live in Spain if I buy it by www.blizzard.com I've to pay about $45'00 in expedition!! I'll have to phone the spanish distributor for having cheaper...
Can somebody tell me if the "Best seller series" version is an Hibrid CD? |

I would recommend looking on eBay for Diablo 2. I'm sure you can find someone on there that'll ship to Spain. Speaking of eBay, I found a nice set for you on eBay here. _________________ Computer Engineer

I don't like "Diablo I" too, but "Diablo II" it's one of the best games that I've never played.
I love Neverwinter Nights, Diablo II, Dungeon Siege and games like that. |

Are you playing online? My Mini crashes at least once whenever I play. The problem above is still happening. I haven't gone to 1.11, as I haven't played in a week or so, but I didn't think it included a bug fix related to my problem. I'll try tonight and report back.
Also, if any of you play online, I'm on USEast with an account name of Susurrus I think. _________________ Computer Engineer

I've registered today to battlenet (on the european gateway), but I haven't played on it, becouse it's a bit sad to do a new character (you know, on battlenet you can't play with your offline character :S). I'll try it tomorrow. My account is 'comandantecobra' (Cobra Commander in spanish hehe)
For the moment I have no crash problems on OpenGL. Sometimes it goes two or 3 seconds choppy when there's a lot of enemies... but, that's all |

My PC had nothing but problems with diablo 1, so I don't think I'll ever try D2, besides, i like starcraft and wc3, I think starcraft was one of the best games ever made. I've had it since I had Win98! And it's STILL popular. Though I have a hard time communicating with alot of the good players. I play in games with people from Korea, they're really good (they have like 5 channels that broadcast video game tournaments/shows etc.) But even though i can't communicate with em, I enjoy it just the same. Plus, it requires such minimal comp specs that anyone can play with no problems at all. The battle chest right now I think is around $12-$15 (Starcraft, Starcraft: Broodwar(expansion), Strat guide or something). GET SC! _________________ Gone. |

You should try running it with software acceleration. To access the video options hold down Option while you open the game. The game runs a lot better in software acceleration, don't ask me why. I would help you out with your low level, but your on the European servers. Our USEast servers aren't too far away... _________________ Computer Engineer

Shaking this old tread to life
I just installed Diablo II with the osx installer, everything seems to run smoothly, but i cant use my right mouse button (a right click = a left click). Neither is [Command - left mousebutton] allowing my amazon to throw her (as yet not so) deadly spears.
I am using a logitech keyboard and optical scroll wheel mouse, i wonder if that is the problem (they work just fine in osx!)?
Any thoughts? |
