Tuesday, August 11, 2009
Posted by: Glenn
Apple has released Safari 4.0.3 for Leopard, Tiger and Windows via their Software Update utility and on the Web. According to the company, this update is recommended for all Safari users and includes improvements to stability, compatibility and security including:
- Stability improvements for webpages that use the HTML 5 video tag
- Stability improvements for 3rd-party plug-ins
- Stability improvements for Top Sites
- Fixes an issue that prevented some users from logging into iWork.com
- Fixes an issue that could cause web content to be displayed in greyscale instead of color
Safari 4.0.3 for Leopard weighs in at 40MB and requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 or 10.5.8.
Update: Apple also released the Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.1 for Windows today. This update improves the reliability and performance of the Apple Multi-Touch trackpad when running Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista on a Mac computer using Boot Camp.

Please make a difference, please make a difference, please make a difference...
I haven't had good luck with Safari 4 thus far. |

| I don't notice any real improvements over 4.0.2. It still feels sluggish and uses way more RAM than Firefox. I will say that Top Sites feels a little more responsive now. |

| I can't wait to get home and test Safari 4.0.3 out. I've been suffering from the color shifting problem discussed over here. |

| These new updates won't let me pay some online bills now. I couldn't figure out what the heck was going on. So I tried firefox and it worked. Not sure why this is happening it never did before. |

What's the least fun is trying to surf any of Microsoft's websites or SharePoint. ...and FireFox does not help make things better in this case. |

| Safari 4.0.3 still feels bloated (memory usage wise) and sluggish to me. It's also crashed on me twice already. I'm not even running any plugins either. |

I'm ticked off that it doesn't have the Clear Recent Search from Google Search so my advice use Private Browsing if you want to search for porn in Google Search. Until they make a Update to bring it back. _________________ 24" LED Cinema Display,Mac Mini '09, 2.0GHz,

I'm so glad they added Private Browsing in Firefox 3.5. It's such a marriage and embarrassment saver.
I don't really use Safari that much. Did they remove the clear Google search option in this release? |

Y'know, a few more posts on this subject, and I think the mods are going to have to set up a dedicated forum...

It feels faster to me that way now. I'm good to go on one bounce or roughly two seconds. |

Completely unrelated, but can anyone tell me what the [U] means in the thread title? I've seen it around a few times, and my curiosity has now got the better of me. _________________ iPhone 4 16GB

It could be an HTML tag someone forgot to close as /u. U means underline. That's just my guess though?
I took the [ ] out, cause it gave me issues when I posted |
