 Picked up the new Springsteen CD at lunchtime & planned on loading it into iTunes while scarfing down a sandwich. Seems the SuperDrive in my Mini won't read the CD side of the disk (it's a duo disk: CD on one side, DVD on the other). Plays the DVD side fine, but spits the CD back out after a few minutes.
Put the CD side in a CD player, worked fine. Fired up the HTPC (Windows XP with NEC DVD burner) and loaded it into iTunes there with out a hitch. (Although read times were a tad slow, 6/7x vice the usual 11x).
Pulled the files over my LAN to my iTunes library on the Mini & all was well. Had to skip the sandwich  |

I don't have one of those duo type disks. I wonder why the DVD side will play and the CD side won't. It sounds like something is playing tricks with the lens. Maybe where the two layers meet up is real thin the laser has a hard time reading it. So is the album any good? Saw him on the Today show this morning.

I noticed the disk seemed slightly thicker than a normal DVD or CD and was a snug fit. Could be the position of the CD layer is affected. Dunno. But it definitely won't play in my Mini with a SuperDrive.
As for the CD, it's on the softer side. Has some fine tracks on it, though. Bruce can do no wrong in my book, so you'll need to look elsewhere for an unbiased opinion. Great value. Twelve CD tracks, complete album as an audio DVD plus DVD video. All for $10 at Circuit City. |

| True! I buy lots of music at iTunes, but for $10 I have the songs on my iPod, my wife can play the CD in the car or wherever and we can also pop it in the DVD player to enjoy the extras. It's a complete no brainer! |

Haha, very true. I saw a small portion of his prime time address last week and almost peed my pants when he started talking about the no child left behind crap. He kept saying stuff like "we're monitoring these schools and monitoring these teachers - its gonna work because of monitoring, and we will monitor the monitors in order to monitor the progress of the monitoring".
I am so not proud of our president. |
