iSuppli today posted their teardown and estimated cost of the 2009 Mac minis. According to the company, "the latest Mac mini desktop computer demonstrates once again that Apple knows how to make computers better, smaller, and more attractive. Such an achievement, however, comes at a premium and bears higher component costs due to the Mac mini's use of parts designed for mobile computers."

Apple doesn't appear to get great volume pricing on hard drives. They might do better shopping from Newegg. |

If this is accurate, I'm a little surprised with the price of the 9400M from Nvidia. It's funny they can't put a price on OS X and iLife though. I'm going with priceless. |

I knew the entry-level Mac mini was a good deal. I mean, after you upgrade the RAM and hard drive to respectable levels. |

But what are they using to estimate these costs? A manufacturer, such as Apple that buys bulk oem parts at wholesale gets them at significantly low prices. Most of the prices they have listed seem a bit high. _________________ Mercury TiBook 400MHz, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, Airport

| I'm not buying the prices either. It seems like Apple could do better with the volumes they are buying. |

I have to agree there pricing on hard drives has a tendency to suck.
look at the macbook air for example a 150 gig hard drive is 400.00.
when you can purchase a ibm ssd for 400.00 and get 500 gig's
kinda strange great information on the new mini's though. |
