Just curious, is anyone here running a distro of Linux on their mini, specifically Ubuntu? I just installed it on my internal hard drive, keeping my OS X install on the external fw drive. _________________ Computational Media Major Student @ Georgia Tech

I am running Ubuntu, but not on my mini. I have it on an old HP laptop. It really impresses me as a "It Just Works (TM)" distro.

| I was impressed with the fact that the live version ran so well on my Mini, (and that everything worked, including the sound), that I decided to install it and see how well it would work, however I did just the opposite than you. I installed it on my Firewire drive. It got all the way to the end of the install with no problems untill it tried to install yaboot, I guess it wanted to install it to the internal drive in the mini. Anyway it wouldn't let pick any other drive, so I aborted the install. If I had of done what you did and installed it to the internal drive, I have no doubts it would have worked fine. BTW, how did it work? I may try again. |

it's working just fine, I'm in it right now... I was also surprised that the sound works. I am in the midst of writing an article about my experience / a howto for new linux users
however, I am painfully learning that lots of little things aren't made for PPC
for example, macromedia doesn't make flash player for linux ppc
also, there is no ppc java1.5, and some apps like realplayer don't come in ppc flavors, but overall I think Ubuntu is faster... mainly because it doesn't really have any fancy graphics to load. _________________ Computational Media Major Student @ Georgia Tech
