The disk test falls off a bit with the new update, but it is the fastest disk in the world and for the little bit of disk falloff the cpu jumps from 135.91 to 152.70. The machine is really fast.
While doing the updates I found a virus that I killed. I think the confricker. It would not let me load the new update to the intel ssd. Lucky for me the ssd is tiny (32gb) with only programs and apps. It had about 15gb of info. I booted with the updated freeagent and erased the intel ssd with a 7 zero pass. Only a half hour to do that. Then I partitioned it did a fresh install from dvd. Ran an xbench with the 10.5.6 install. Then I ran the 10.5.7 update. So if you run this update and it says f you " I wont load the update" you may have the confricker virus. It said there was corrupted files and ended the update. I was lucky the small ssd had the virus not the big freeagent. would have taken a lot longer to fix the problem. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

| Unless you're running Windows on your Mac, there's no way you got Conficker, as it's Windows-only. |

@philiparcario
Confricker causing Mac's to have update problems!? Highly unlikely. Anyhow congrats on the xBench boost. Mine actually fell 8-10 points. RAM usage seems to be higher for some reason on my machine. Roughly 100mb more usage at a idle. _________________ MacMini 2.0GHz C2D (2009)

To provide some perspective to philiparcario's scores and fun, here is one generated with the original macmini1.25 1gb ram and hitachi hd. About 4-5 times lower. I don't have the 10.5.6 score, but suspect the changes to be minimal. Actually 10.5.7 feels slightly slower as I notice more disk activity.

philiparcario, in another thread I read you modded and tested a few macminis. In a quiet room, did you hear or notice the c2d cpu whine (a high pitch noise)? |

I have old ears (52) with lots of rock and roll on them. But yes I have heard a few sounds from the new minis 2009 models and the refurb 2008 models. That could be called a whine. what is your exact model and hdd drive? _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

I am still using the macmini g4 <grin>, and do not own a macmini c2d yet for reason below.
A few years ago I bought a pc notebook with a c2d and heard the noise (not from hd or fan). It is high pitch, like a whistle sound. As there is little physical distance to the machine with notebooks, I found it annoying with my less old ears (36), and therefore returned it with some trouble to put it mildly. I later discovered on the internet this noise is called a "whine" and is a problem with mobile c2d chips, and may be louder on some machines (depending on the enclosure?).
I was hoping Intel resolved it by now, and the macmini 2009 did not have this issue. It looks like I'll be using my current mini a bit longer. Do you have a video demonstrating the speed of your macmini with x25-e? |

| Looking forward to it. My mini can't handle anything over 480p or youtube HD, so please in SD. And thanks for your feedback on the noise question, saving me from some headaches. |

Philiparcario, very interesting, my new mini 2,0 went from 138 to 144 with no problems to report.
I've got some HD noise with WD320. For now a 4 pieces of felt are under it until I get some gooey silicone sticky pads.
I'd love to see a vid of your SSD machine!!! _________________ 2009 Mini 2.0
