Does anyone know when Jolicloud is coming out? I heard about it a few months ago and thought it looked cool. It's sort of like Ubuntu Netbook Remix, but with a slicker user interface.

It looks pretty slick. I wonder which version of linux they're using? Ubuntu probably.

According to their website, they are just about to come out with an alpha. You apparently need an invitation to get it, but all you have to give them is your email address to get an invitation. If you're keen to try it, you have nothing to lose.

I just had a look at a similar project, Moblin, which is in beta. Setup is very similar, and wifi worked out of the box when I booted it up on my Wind from a usb pendrive. These projects are a great idea, but all seem to be barebones at the moment, with not much yet in the way of applications and lots of bugs. This includes a third one I know of with a similar idea, xPUD. But in another 6 months to a year, you'll have lots of choice for netbook operating systems that boot fast, are internet based, and have iPOD touch-type of interfaces. For now, only Ubuntu Netbook Remix seems to be a working model of this type of interface. It's more resource intensive than all of the others, but it's also full featured.

So I've got Joli running on my HP Mini but I don't see what the big deal is. Everything available in Joli I can do in OSX. Or am I missing something somewhere? It works fine, I just don't see whats so special about it.
