Apple Holding iPhone Event on March 17th
Thursday, March 12, 2009
Posted by: Glenn
Apple sent out invitations today for a special media event on March 17th. According to the invitations, Apple will be demonstrating the upcoming iPhone OS 3.0 software and giving details about the new SDK. The event will take place at their headquarters in Cupertino at 10:00 AM PST. Copy and paste anyone?

March 17th? Will they be handing out pints of Guinness to the attendees? _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

That could help the attendees forget about copy and paste. I mean, if the new software is still lacking in that department. It could also liven up the old event video. _________________ Glenn

It would also be a nice day to release a special edition U2 iPhone with a green back. |

....and forwarding of text messages.
2.2 to 3.0 is a big jump, let's hope this major release is worth it. |

It will probably add support for the new ARM multicore processors that have been "rumoured" to be used in the new iPhone. I just hope it adds MMS. _________________ MacBook 1.83Ghz C2D, 2GB Ram, 160GB 7200rpm HDD, OS X 10.6.5

And possibly background processes being allowed to run?
Apple have already let an MMS app into the App Store, so 'maybe' that's a sign they won't implement it themselves. |

The third party app is pretty craply implemented, the people you send the messages to have to visit a website to view the picture. I also can't see background processes happening with the current gen iPhone as I still get apps crashing sometimes. _________________ MacBook 1.83Ghz C2D, 2GB Ram, 160GB 7200rpm HDD, OS X 10.6.5

| If they don't add copy and paste, there will be riots in the streets. I could go on with other stuff, but that needs to be job #1. |

How about a Snow Leopard event? I'm anxious to find out more about the new cat.
I wonder if they will announce a new phone or something? Storage bumps on the current model could be a possibility. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

Just give me copy & paste and better battery life. Those are my main requests. Everything else will be gravy on the biscuit. That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing some new stuff in iTunes. Perhaps something like this.

Copy and Paste, video recording capabilities, and media texts would be great!!
...a mobil version of iWork wouldn't hurt either, even if it means we would have to pay for it (as long as it's not overpriced). |
