WOOT!!!! This is the only REAL thing I gave a poop about. |
CRAPPERS......I spoke too soon...
"For instance, A2DP and MMS won't be available on the iPhone 1st gen" |
"Due to hardware constraints." WTF?
Looks like my biggest take-away from all of this is note syncing and CalDAV, both of which I was getting along without pretty well. |

No A2DP or MMS on the iPhone 1G? It's like a dagger through the heart.

Will it do A2DP? |
It doesn't have bluetooth at all so probably no. I didn't even think the 2nd gen Touch had bluetooth either. |

Hardware constraints my ass. I can send MMS right now. And the 1st gen iphone IS AD2P capable. And people wonder why these things get hacked. _________________ MacMini 2.0GHz C2D (2009)

I didn't think my 1G iPod touch had bluetooth. I thought I read something about it having the chip though. It was just disabled or something. That said, it's still a go on my 3G. I use that most of the time now anyways. |

| I guess I'm going to have to buy a new iPodBook touch maxi air in the summer when it comes out. Seems like it is the only way to get the fullest effect of the update without switching over to AT&T. |

That is hard to swallow. I bet there will be a new phone at WWDC anyways, so us 3G owners will probably have something to bitch about too. Hey, it's been two years since the original iPhone came out. How else are they going convince people to make another deal with the devil? I mean, AT&T. |

It looks like the name is sticking.
I just hope the thing is affordable. |

| Sweet update! I think it addresses some of the shortcomings of the iPhone. Now, I think they need to concentrate on video and video chatting. |

I'm really happy with the contents of this update. I can't wait until it comes out. Why can't summer start next week? I think the weather has already changed. _________________ 14" 1.25GHz G4 iBook (died)

| I'm mostly excited about C&P, AD2P, MMS, Mail and Spotlight. Everything else is a bonus. |

Global search across the core applications (yay spotlight!).
Cut and Paste between core applications.
Sync Notes through iTunes to desktop/laptop.
So that was all playing catchup with my 5 year old Palm Tungsten C....
Landscape mode keyboard in Mail/Notes/Calendar will be awesome for these old fat fingers...
Peer to peer bluetooth and a whole new world of sharing applications (this could better than replace the old IR connectivity of the Palm devices).
CalDAV support (no longer dependent on MobileMe exclusively).
So bluetooth connected keyboards and tethering support are still in the future; but it's a good start. _________________ Apple Mac Mini dual 1.83GHz, 1GB, 160GB +1TB iSCSI network drive, SuperDrive, Edirol UA-1EX, Onkyo M-508, AR-P315 speakers

I share your excitement. That's going to be really handy.

It's nice to know that someone else in Virginia has fat fingers.
I really have trouble typing in portrait mode, so this is going to be great. I can't understand why it wasn't there from the beginning in something like Mail, but better late than never. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

I think we could actually credit Palm for a lot of these new features. Not that they were the originators. I just think the Pre may have sparked a fire under Apple. Who says competition is bad? |

They had me at copy and paste, peer-to-peer gaming and R2D2. Make that AD2P. |
