| In Disk Utility, my G3 doesn't see the installed HD - all it sees is the install CD. I've tried swapping out the HD with the same result. Everything was fine until the kids did something (I have no idea what) and I got the question mark-in-a-folder icon on next boot. Any ideas? |

The Question Mark folder means that the iMac can't find the OS installed on your HDD. This can happen when someone has attempted to set the machine up to start in OS 9, but the system cannot find a valid OS 9 Folder.
In its benign form, you just need to wait, while OS X re-establishes the proper boot pathway. This can take quite some time. I'd give it 10 or so minutes.
If this doesn't cure the problem, use the OSX install disk as your start up.
Go to 'Start-Up' Disk Systems Preference panel. Click on it and see if your HDD is listed.
If not, then you may try using 'Disk Utility' to check the status of your drive.
Other things you can do include resetting the Pram as well as resetting NVram.
Give these things a go...& get back to us...
