Apple has released the 7.4.1 firmware update for the AirPort Extreme, AirPort Express and Time Capsule. According to the company, this update is recommended for all 802.11n-based models.

For the AirPort Extreme (Early 2009) and Time Capsule (Early 2009) that ship with firmware 7.4, the firmware 7.4.1 update includes:
- Resolves an issue in which a client computer may be disconnected when waking from sleep
- Addresses an issue in which redirecting SMTP port services may disable IP-layer networking
- Improves the reliability of Back to My Mac-based disk sharing
- Includes recent AirPort security updates

For the AirPort Extreme with 802.11n (Fast Ethernet), AirPort Extreme with 802.11n (Gigabit Ethernet), AirPort Express with 802.11n, and original Time Capsule models, the firmware 7.4.1 update includes:
- Enables remote administration and remote access to compatible USB connected drives via Back to My Mac (except on AirPort Express)
- Improves reliability when backing up to a Time Capsule via Time Machine
- Includes recent AirPort security updates

Apple also posted a new support document outlining the security content included in this update.

It's a shame they didn't add the Guest Network feature to the older models. I guess there's a hardware component to that after all. I kind of thought so, but wasn't sure.

That sounds cool. That being said, I can't ever get Back to My Mac to work right.

That was a nice upgrade; my wireless connection from Time Capsule to mini is definitely faster now.

Really?! I use it quite a lot and it works great for me....

Do you have your mobile me account set up on both Macs? If so, it should just "show up" in your finder as a Shared machine.....

This firmware update seems to have helped my buffering issues with AirTunes. It's loading songs much faster now.

The upgrade to my AirPort Extreme has caused me some issues with port forwarding.

My Slingbox device will automatically set up the router via UPnP, after the upgrade it couldn't do this and I had to forward the port manually.

Also BTMM through MobileMe (specifically remote viewing the desktop) was also stopped, but having entered my MM details into the MM tab in AirPort Utility this resolved this.
