Apple holding special event on March 24th?
Monday, March 2, 2009
Posted by: Glenn
The World of Apple and My Apple Guide websites are reporting that Apple is planning to hold a special event on March 24th to unveil updated desktops. You know, like new Mac minis, iMacs and Mac Pros. As much as this comes as welcome news, we've actually been hearing that Apple might slip in some of these updates without holding a special event. This could even happen well before the rumored March 24th event. But hey, nothing is a given at this point. This is Apple we're talking about here.

So... new Mac minis tomorrow or in 22 days? And what will the specs be? I think the 9400M is a given, and hopefully SuperDrive in the low-end model along with a maximum of 4GB RAM. I also hope it will still have FireWire 400. _________________ Mac mini 2010 (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz/8 GiB)

| I don't know, but I'm in desperate need of a new computer. If Apple doesn't do something this month, I'll probably move on to something else or just build a Hackintosh. Screw them! |

I'm not sure about the Mac mini or Mac Pro, but I would bet the iMac gets updated this month. That's sort of been the only desktop they've shown love for over the last two years. Then again, maybe it's time for the others. You can't say they haven't had enough time to update them. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

I'm just so tired of waiting. So I will be totally pissed if they only update the iMac this month. |

| You can sign me up for another Mac mini if it includes the Nvidia 9400M with support for dual-displays, FW800 and 802.11n. If it lacks any of those three things, I'll be sitting this update out. The iMac or Mac Pro don't interest me either. Well, the Mac Pro does. But who can afford one of those babies? |

| I would put a vote in for an update each week. One week for the Mini, one for the iMac, and one for the Pro (not necessarily in that order). |

I've gotten my hopes up too many times. I have no expectation that Apple will update the mini in the near future.
For all we know they are planning to update the mini when the Nvidia chip becomes obsolete for at least 2 years. _________________ → craigerskine.com

Me too. That's why I'm giving them until the end of the month. If there isn't a new Mac mini or replacement after that, I say buh-bye. |

What's wrong with tomorrow? Apple doesn't ship anything new on time anyways. So you announce them tomorrow and start shipping on the 24th. That's like the best of both worlds. |

There was another rumour suggesting release of a netbook. Not that I believe it, but it sure would be a good move on Apple's part. _________________ Mini 1: 2.3 ghz Core i5; 8 gb RAM, Corsair 240gb SSD, 500 gb Seagate XT
